whilst out walking i came across this
is it wild i ask myself - i have never seen anything like it, how has it survived the uncontrolled hunting season on the island, a little later on the walk i came across another, it had a little more white in the head area.
It's a "barbarian duck" or that's how I translate its French name... they are usually domestic ones... but some went back to the wild.. I rescued one two years ago... she lives with the chicken...
ReplyDeleteYou'll soon be able to play in water... lucky you... blue water like this I can only find at the local swimming pool..Filakia pola!
steph marci beaucoup - :) this one has definately gone wild, never seen any domestic ones of this variety here. its not something eaten much - but thats great to know and im lousy at reasearch.
Deletethe first photo captures light refraction incredibly - makes that splash look painful
ReplyDeletevera its a great little plastic camera with a plastic lens that takes medium format film and is full of surprises, especially with colour -but days where the sea is as flat as that i long for
Deletesounds like a holga, is it? i had seriously considered purchasing one a few months back for fun.
ReplyDeletep.s i agree, these spam detecting nuisance boxes are ridiculous, i disabled mine in the settings somewhere.
it isa holga, dont know why i didnt put it in the reply, you should, you really should :)
DeleteSuch unbelievably clear water... I am dreaming right along with you...
ReplyDeleteWe have wild ducks here that are similarly 'multi-coloured' - I think they are the result of wild ducks mating with domestic ducks...
got to keep that dream strong its practically dark at noon at the moment :)
DeleteWhat incredible water! The stuff of dreams, right enough. What a splendid chap, I'm so glad no-one's eaten him! We have some strange looking ducks that live near the sea here, which doesn't seem quite right. Perhaps they mated with seagulls?
ReplyDeletethat would be an interesting mix wouldn't it?
DeleteGood bloog post
